“California Love”- Let’s Go Eat!

a glass of red wine and black ESR tote bag from Brandon Blackwood

After talking about wanting to visit the west coast for the past couple of years. I was able to visit for almost a month and it was absolutely a great trip. During this trip, I did so many different things from tourist attractions, shop, and most of all eat. My friend and I had so many different restaurants that we wanted to try from social media and friends. Here are some of the restaurants that I dined at and my opinion on their food and ambiance.

In-N-Out

In-N-Out Cheeseburger & Fries

Everyone talks about In-n-Out and how it is so much better than other burger places. It was one of our first stops after touching down in Los Angeles. I got a single cheeseburger with fries and a soda. I was super disappointed with the fries. The fries didn’t really have any salt on them. They didn’t taste as good as other fast-food fries. The burger was not all that either. It didn’t excite me as other fast-food chains have.

I feel In-N-Out is overhyped for what it is. My tastebuds could also be off because I haven’t eaten fast food burgers in the past 8-10 years. I give them a 3 out of 10 on me recommending it to you. Only thing I would say try it just to say you had In-N-Out at least once in your life.

Nobu LA

So I’ve lived in NYC for the past six years and never went to Nobu in the city. The craziest part about it that it was literally around the corner from my job. I would pass it every day on my way to work. I made sure that I went there for dinner while I was in LA. The service was absolutely amazing from the beginning to when we left. The food was great and such a cute outside ambiance with the lights and greenery.

I’ve heard people have different opinions on Nobu from the price and the quality of food. I felt that it was well priced and the food was at least an 8/10. Only because one of our appetizers was cold when it should have been hot when it came out to us. I know a lot of people say that Sugarfish is better than Nobu. I’m not a big sushi person and haven’t tried Sugarfish. So I can’t comment on that opinion but I would definitely go to Nobu at least once; if it is in your city.

Fia Restaurant

My friend and I spent the day in Santa Monica; so I found a restaurant in Santa Monica off of Instagram. It was such a cute vibe with trees and a classy backyard setting. We went to the Fia Restaurant which was about 10-20mins away from Santa Monica depending on traffic. We ordered grilled octopus for the appetizer and it was my first time having octopus. I was nervous about the texture but they grilled it perfectly and it went amazing with the salsa sauce they combined it with. For dinner, we had the “impossible meat” Lasagna. Everything was excellent; I couldn’t believe that I finished everything. I would definitely recommend going here for dinner if you’re in Santa Monica. It is a 10/10 LA restaurant to try!

Pump Restaurant

If you’ve watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills then you know who Lisa Vanderpump is. Ever since it came out and I found out that Lisa and her husband Ken owning multiple restaurants. I wanted to visit at least one of them while out in Los Angeles. I heard positive and negative opinions on their food but I wanted to give it a try. We ended up going to Pump Restaurant for Sunday brunch. I had the typical brunch with eggs, bacon, toast, and Lisa Vanderpump’s signature drink Big Pinky.

It was a great experience and I would recommend it for a cute brunch spot in Beverly Hills. It was a great ambiance and overall vibe. The service was super friendly and very quick as well with food. I actually saw Lisa Vanderpump which I was not expecting. As I was passing through the restaurant; a lady was holding a dog and her dog was super close to my face. As I turned my head, I saw that it was a Lisa Vanderpump. I didn’t say anything because she and the restaurant manager were in the middle of a conversation. Due to the pandemic still going on, I don’t think anyone is really asking or taking pictures with strangers.

More Food…

Wait, there are more restaurants that I ate at while in Los Angeles. I will be sharing them in the part 2 blog post, soon. If you have ever tried these different restaurants or have recommendations; please comment below. I would love to hear about your food experience.
