Get Ready to use the SewSoDef 5 Minute Journal

a spiral notebook boud journal

Another product in our signature “Self-Care Sunday” Box is a 5-minute journal. This journal allows you to take five minutes out of your busy day to release your emotions. Whether you want to use this journal to start your day or end your day. The journal allows you to reflect on emotions, gratitude, and more. We were able to connect with the founder of the company, Cherri on her business and product.

What inspired/motivated you to start your business?

The pandemic was my motivation to start my business. I started off by making masks and then I ventured off into t-shirts. I found that I really liked it and realized I can make a small profit. Then I started making things that I truly cared about which is self-care for Black women.

Who are you and what do you want your customers to know about you?

I am Cherri Willams, just a girl who loves to craft and create things. Someone who loves to spread positive vibes and see people smile.

Explain to us more about your product?

Black women matter! We deserve to be cared for and to take time to care for ourselves. At the very least we need to take 5 minutes out of each day to reflect and dissect our feelings and just process the events of the day.

I suggest at the end of every day, while sitting up in bed, take this journal from your nightstand and write. Or maybe even after work, once you change into your comfy clothes with a glass of wine or tea in hand.

What has been your struggle being a woman of color in business?

It has been trying to reach other women of color. My shop and all my products are made for black women, and the major e-commerce platforms are dedicated to white consumers. As well as social media platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. I will continue to push through and reach my goals.

What has been your highlight/accomplishment being a woman of color business?

When I look through Instagram and see Black women wearing and using my products. I was in a Facebook group for Black women readers and a girl posted her favorite book with one of my bookmarks. That melted my heart!

How can the community support you and your business?

Please follow me on Instagram @shopsewsodef and on Facebook at TheGal4Decals. You can shop for my brand through Etsy.
