About two years ago, I embarked on my fitness journey through the encouragement of friends. I have personally always gone through a struggle to gain and maintain a healthy weight for my age. Doctors would say that I had a fast metabolism or that I need to change my eating habits. I never really listened or took the time to research until 2018. I have always had a target weight goal since high school/college years but struggled to reach it until I actually took fitness seriously.
My Fitness Goal
My fitness goal is to gain weight and reach my target weight goal that I have set for myself. You would think it is easy to gain weight but it is a little bit more difficult for me, personally because of many different reasons. My work schedule is not a set daily 9-5 pm. So it is very hard for me to eat clean and go to the gym at least 2-3x a week. I do not count my calories which I’ve been told by numerous people to do but I’m so busy that it is hard for me to keep track. I started to learn how to work around these personal setbacks and achieve my goal.
The Journey Has Begun
Two years ago, I finally listened to my friends and signed up for a gym membership. I was super nervous due to not going to the gym since college and I did not know how to use any of the machines or what type of exercises to do. My friend was a gym pro and helped ease me into exercises and how to use the equipment properly that I started to feel comfortable to go by myself. I download multiple workout apps such as Jetfit, Sworkit, BodySpace, and Nike Training App. Out of all these apps, I really liked Nike Training. The app design and how the videos on how to complete every exercise are very detailed, so you are able to do it correctly.

The picture to the left is a before & after I started working out. I changed my whole diet, completely. By cutting out fast food, junk food, soda, and more. It took me a while to realize that fatty foods would not help me gain weight. I started to eat healthier such as more vegetarian options in my diet, more protein, and water throughout the day. My friend and I were going to the gym at least 3x a week. The right showed me with motivation and determination, you can reach your goals. The right picture is not my target weight goal but I continue to work on achieving my weight goal.
Current Status
I started to get back on track with being at the gym more consistently. The best advice that I can give have an accountability buddy for the gym and your eating habits. I’m so glad that my best friend encourages me when I tell her that I went to the gym or help me get back on track. Even my co-workers are my accountability buddies when I eat lunch and my water intake. We all hold each other accountable when we do not see each other with our water intake or having a “bad lunch.” If it was not for my own personal weight & health goals as my motivation but to have others around me to encourage me to be my best self. Summer 2020 is around the corner and I know we want to be everyone’s body goals. Here’s a link to my workout playlist that I created to listen to while I’m at the gym.
