Smorgasburg

Summertime in New York is always an exciting time for New Yorkers and tourists. It is the time where we all come out after being cooped up in our apartments all winter. June was finally a great month to start enjoying those summer activities that I like to do in NYC such as festivals, rooftops, picnics at Central Park, and staying out late because the weather is still nice. In June, I went to Smorgasburg (food festival) for the first time.

Locations

  • Smorgasburg is held every weekend throughout the summer in 3 different locations across New York:
  • World Trade Center on Friday (11A-7P).
  • East River State Park (Williamsburg) on Saturday (11A-6P).
  • Prospect Park on Sunday (11A-6P).

Smorgasburg was a great way to enjoy time with my friends as we went around trying foods from different vendors. I would recommend bringing cash with you but most vendors take credit/debt. Some of the vendors give a discount if you use Apple Pay. They offer picnic tables for you to sit and enjoy your food or bring a picnic blanket to sit around the park. My friend and I went down to the water to take pictures and enjoy the view of Manhattan. One thing I love about New York is finding different spots to enjoy the view of the city and reflect at that moment.

My friends and I went to multiple food vendors at Smorgasburg to try different foods, drinks, and desserts. For lunch, I went to Lobsterdamus and had the Lobster Nachos. They also served Lobster Truffle Fries, Lobster Garlic Noodles, full lobster, and more. Prices range from $10-26.

Torched Ice Cream (Bona Bona Ice Cream)

For dessert, I had Bona Bona Ice Cream. Their specialty is Italian Meringue torched on top of ice cream or vegan ice cream. The ice cream cone cost $7. It was a great way to cool off on a hot, sunny day walking around the park. I also had Guava Lemonade and a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade from other vendors. They also have a section where vendors serve alcohol. I would recommend everyone to go to Smorgasburg at least once during the summer to try different foods and enjoy the views.
