The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) is located on the Upper East Side of NYC. The museum holds numerous exhibits all year round for New Yorkers and tourists. The Met has an entrance fee of recommended donations for NY residents and standard pricing for non-New York residents.
It was my second time visiting the MET for the Met Gala Exhibits that they hold every year. I first went to The MET Roof Garden with a glass of Rosé and enjoyed a perfect view of NYC. My friend and I made our way downstairs to the Met Gala: Camp Exhibit.
Met Gala: Camp Exhibit 2019
Every fashion lover looks forward to the First Monday of May for The Met Gala that happens every year. After The Met Gala ends about a couple of weeks later; The Met opens up the exhibit for the public to view that year’s theme. The theme for the year 2019 was Camp. In J. Redding Ware, Passing English of the Victorian Era: A Dictionary of Heterodox English, Slang, and Phrase states: “Camp is the actions and gestures of exaggerated emphasis.”
The exhibit starts off by explaining what Camp is in fashion terms and how it all started to the present. It shows the exaggeration of fashion from different views and elements. The exhibit was full of vivid colors and absolutely amazing pieces from my favorite designers and brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Giambattista Valli, and more. I don’t want to spill too many details of the exhibit or share many pictures because I want you to go for yourself and enjoy this exhibit.
